My journey has been one of resilience, growth, and a commitment to giving back. I became a teen mom, which gave me firsthand insight into the challenges and joys of parenting. This experience shaped my passion for safe parenting practices and the importance of creating stable, nurturing environments for children.

Growing up, I faced many adverse childhood experiences, including navigating the effects of addiction and instability within my family. These challenges could have led me down a risky path, but youth centers became my saving grace. In high school, I became a public speaker, advocating for before- and after-school programs and highlighting the profound impact youth centers can have on at-risk kids. For me, the local youth center wasn’t just a safe space—it was a place of purpose and focus, keeping me out of trouble and helping me envision a brighter future.

My Mi’kmaq heritage is central to who I am. My name, which means “protector of the next generation,” inspires me daily to guide and support others. My family’s history, including my grandmother’s survival of the Indian Day School system, has deepened my commitment to healing and honoring my culture.
